Mathematics competition open to high school students

Detroit Mercy Mathematics Competition

The mathematics department is excited to announce two competitions for high school students to expand their knowledge about mathematics.

Every month, the department will challenge students with the Monthly Math Puzzle.  Puzzles will be posted on the first of the month with solutions due by the end of the month.  Winners will be announced on the Detroit Mercy Mathematics Competition website, www.udmercy.edu/dmmc.

In April, the mathematics department is hosting the Detroit Mercy Mathematics Competition for high school students in a friendly competition that tests your problem-solving skills and mathematical knowledge.

Our award winning faculty love mathematics and want see you become the next generation of problem-solvers.

When: April, 2018 from 8 am to 1 pm (lunch will be provided)
Where: University of Detroit Mercy, Engineering Building
Who: High School students
Prize: 1st place; 2nd place; 3rd place

Competition: The competition will test your mathematical background and challenge your problem solving skills.  The exam will consist of multiple choice questions and problem solving questions that will require a written response.

Following the competition, professors will grade your exam and top prize winners will be announced on the website.

Following the exam, you will have an opportunity to talk with current students, alumni and faculty in the mathematics department.  See where your future could go by obtaining a mathematics degree from University of Detroit Mercy.
