Chemistry Department Honors Dr. McLean Jr. with New Plaque

Dean Katy Snyder, Dr. Mark Benvenuto, Dr. Matthew Mio, and President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D. were present at the unveiling.

The Department of Chemistry unveiled a new plaque to honor John A. McLean Jr., Ph.D.  during the 2nd iteration of the Dr. John A. McLean Jr. Lecture series. Dr. Mary Ann B. Meador, Senior Research Scientist, NASA Glenn Research Center Department of Polymer Engineering gave the keynote presentation.

 Dr. John A. McLean Jr. taught in the Chemistry Department from 1959-95, serving as professor and chair. He has mentored hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students, won numerous teaching and research awards, and volunteered his service to several professional societies. In 1995, he was given the title of Professor Emeritus and in the year 2000, an endowed scholarship was created in his honor.
