There are many scholarships available to current Detroit Mercy students. 

Below is a partial listing of both internal and external scholarships generally available for engineering and science students.

Alfred and Alma Fisher

Top E&S student financial need

Eugene Kordyban Memorial Scholarship

New student with financial need

Doug and Dorothy Wood

Junior/Senior minority/female math or engineering student with at least 2.5 gpa and financial need.

Continental Teves

Awarded to incoming engineering major. Based on academic achievements.

Hank Nickol-Alpena

New freshman or transfer student from the Alpena area studying engineering . Min 3.2 high school gpa for entering freshman;min 3.0 Alpena CC gpa for transfer students.

The Alex Sutaruk Scholarship

Student must have a declared major in mechanical, electrical, civil or chemical engineering. Students must be either sophomores or juniors and demonstrate financial need and academic merit.

Society of Women Engineers - UDM chapter

Female engineering student; active in SWE chapter.

Harry Fuller Memorial

2nd year Civil engineering student; 2.0 gpa minimum and financial need.

Jerome Neyer

Undergraduate civil/environmental engineering student; Sophomore or higher standing; minimum 2.8 gpa

John A. McLean, Jr.

Minority freshman, chemistry or biochemistry major.

Trieste and Esther Vitti

Outstanding junior in chemistry or biochemistry

Kirstin DeLong Philips

Outstanding junior in chemistry or biochemistry major

Helen Schneider Woman's Scholarship*

Outstanding Woman majoring in biochemistry or chemistry

Detroit R&D Summer Research Fellowship*

Undergraduate chemistry or biochemistry major.

Mary Ann Caspers Summer Research Fellowship*

Undergraduate chemistry or biochemistry major.

H. Harry Szmant*

Graduate student in the M.S. Chemistry degree program.

Society of Women Engineers-national chapter

Freshmen through Graduate students. Many scholarships available-visit their website.

Society of Automotive Engineers

UDM Scholarship-Entering students planning to study engineering; academic and leadership achievement. Application on SAE website.


Awarded to an outstanding junior Chemistry or Biochemistry major.

Michigan Society of Professional Engineers

High school senior or current engineering student. Visit their website.

Kevin Olmstead Scholarship

Sophomore Civil Engineering Student interested in the Environment.

NSF/Ford Scholarship

US Citizens

MDOT TRAC Scholarship

UDM freshmen who is a graduate of the MDOT TRAC program.

Rossio Scholarship

Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering students.

* Note, some scholarships may not have available funds for the current year.
